Webzen Announces the Launch of Soul of the Ultimate Nation in China

Global online entertainment company Webzen Inc. announced today that the commercial online service for the epic fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Soul of the Ultimate Nation launched in China.

After a highly successful five-week open beta test that began on April 18 through The9 Limited, Soul of the Ultimate Nation, or World of Miracles in China, is now available as a full paid online service. Chinese subscribers can use an array of payment cards – including The9 recharge card, online card or bank card – to acquire game cash to purchase items in Soul of the Ultimate Nation's item shop.

This marks the second international commercial service launch for Soul of the Ultimate Nation, which also began operating in Taiwan on April 19, 2007. With a record 400,000 simultaneous open beta users in China, Webzen is confident that Soul of the Ultimate Nation will continue to gain popularity and provide international revenue diversification and profit growth for the company.

"Despite the growing competition in the Chinese online game market, Korean-developed Soul of the Ultimate Nation has achieved impressive success," said Nam Ju Kim, chief executive officer, Webzen, Inc. "This is certainly a great start for the game, and we're especially pleased that the Webzen brand has gained the trust of Chinese gamers. They have high expectations for our games, and we won’t let the Chinese players down with this launch."

Webzen and The9 plan to provide a variety of additional services for Soul of the Ultimate Nation after the commercial launch. More details will be released at a later date.

Soul of the Ultimate Nation's Chinese commercial launch comes on the heels of Webzen earning accolades for its achievements globally. On May 18 the Society of Korean Entertainment Industry awarded its first Hallyu Honor Award to Webzen in the game company category, citing Webzen’s achievements in spreading Korean games to the world.
